| Andrew Henry |
Henry, a 2010 graduate of Canandaigua Academy, starts his second year at FLCC in the fall. A business administration major, he anticipates graduating in May 2013 and hopes to transfer to Cornell University.
He said his participation in the FLCC Student Senate prompted him to seek election as the student trustee.
“Being a senator taught me the importance of having an effective line of communication between the student body and the College’s administration. I wanted to make certain that students’ concerns and desires would continue to be voiced to the governing bodies of the school efficiently,” he said.
“I also plan on continuing my involvement in student government post-FLCC, and I thought that the position of student trustee would provide me valuable experience,” he added.
Henry will also serve in 2012-13 as president of the FLCC chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society for two-year colleges.
Henry succeeds Joe Varga of Canandaigua, the 2011-12 student trustee, who graduated in May.
Finger Lakes Community College is overseen by a 10-member board. Five appointments are made by the Ontario County Board of Supervisors, four are made by the governor, and the final seat is filled by a student.
