The spotlight will be on Finger Lakes Community College music faculty as they share their instrumental and vocal expertise at the spring Faculty Recital Thursday, March 29, at 7 p.m.
The concert will be held in room B355 on the third floor of the FLCC main building, 3325 Marvin Sands Drive, Canandaigua. The event is free and open to the public. The closest parking is off Laker Lane, at the top of the hill behind the main building.
FLCC music faculty will be joined by alumni and guests Kristen Shriner-McGuire, head of percussion studies at Nazareth College, and Tom Nanni, a freelance musician and attorney from Rochester.
The following are a few of the evening’s performances:
- An ensemble comprised of music faculty members David McGuire on piano, Geoff Smith on bass and Jillian Pritchard-Fiandach on percussion along with guests Kristen Shriner-McGuire on percussion and Tom Nanni on the tabla drum will perform an improvisational piece, “In the Temple of Hajradim” by John Zorn.
- Faculty member, guitarist and alumnus Craig Snyder ’84 and fellow alumni Steve Copeland ’85 on piano, Josh Heckathorn ’09 on bass, and Jason Burns ’08 on drums will play two selections, “April Joy” by Pat Metheny and an original composition by Snyder titled “Earthbound.”
- David McGuire on piano and Kristen Shiner-McGuire on vibraphone/vibes will perform Cole Porter’s “Night and Day.”
