Heads up for Aug. 24: Concert means heavy traffic on FLCC campus

On Wednesday, Aug. 24, the main campus will host three events – Opening Days meetings for faculty and staff, student orientation, and the Kenny Chesney concert – ensuring more traffic and pedestrians and a greater demand for parking.

Concertgoers will not be allowed in until 2 p.m. but traffic is expected to speed up by 4 p.m. All visitors, including students registering for classes or attending orientation events should plan to be off campus by 4 p.m.

Students and parents attending orientation/testing events will be directed to park in spaces reserved in the main lot (also called the A lot).

Faculty and staff will be directed to permit parking in D lot or a reserved section of the A lot.

The CMAC lot (also called the G lot) will not be available for faculty, staff or visitor parking. There will be no entry to the campus from East Lake Road (Route 364).

Monroe Transportation shuttles will begin dropping concertgoers off in the FLCC Child Care Center parking lot turnaround at 2 p.m. They will not travel down the length of Marvin Sands Drive to minimize traffic.

CMAC security will close Marvin Sands Drive above Laker Lane when concert traffic begins arriving, likely before 4 p.m.
