Kristi Greibner
With more than 950 anticipated graduates — the largest class ever – Finger Lakes Community College will hold its 43rd commencement on Saturday, May 21, at 1:45 p.m. at the Constellation Brands Marvin Sands Performing Arts Center on the college grounds.
Erland Kailbourne
The commencement speaker is Erland “Erkie” Kailbourne, a former vice chairman of the SUNY board of trustees and chairman of Albany International Inc., a global advanced textiles and materials processing company.
He retired as chairman and chief executive officer of Fleet National Bank (New York state region) and served as chairman of Financial Institutions Inc. and Five Star Bank from 2006-2010. He is also a director of the New York Independent System Operator, Rand Capital Corporation and the Farash Corporation.

Mr. Kailbourne is a native of Wellsville, Allegany County. He graduated in 1961 from the State University College at Alfred with a degree in business administration, and in 1985 was awarded an honorary doctor of science by the State University of New York.
In 1962, he joined the office of the Comptroller of the Currency as a bank examiner. He served with the Comptroller’s Office through 1966, including a tour in Europe and the Middle East. He then worked for Fleet National Bank or its predecessors for 37 years prior to his retirement from that organization in December 1998.
Commencement is preceded by the Nursing Advancement Ceremony at 10 a.m., which recognizes the advancement of the freshmen to the sophomore level and the sophomores to the graduate level. The graduates place FLCC pins on the advancing freshmen, and the chairperson of the nursing department places FLCC nursing pins on the graduates.
