Finger Lakes Community College will offer six-week classes in ballroom dance and general all-over toning that start in April at the main campus, 3325 Marvin Sands Dr.
Introduction to Ballroom Dance: This course introduces the most popular ballroom dances such as the foxtrot, rumba, swing and waltz. Participants will learn how to navigate the dance floor with a partner and gain the confidence to dance at weddings and social events. Classes are Saturdays from April 16 to June 4 from 11 to 11:55 a.m. The cost is $72 per person; a partner is needed.
Swimsuit Shapeup: This class for men and women combines pilates, yoga and dance techniques into a mat workout that systematically works every muscle. The class runs Mondays from April 18 to June 6 from 5 to 5:55 p.m. in the mat room of the FLCC gym. The cost is $39 per person.
The instructor for both classes is Michelle Madore, the 2002 Professional World Exhibition Ballroom Dance Champion. She has a master’s degree in fine arts in dance and choreography and a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology. For more information, go to www.RochesterDanceSport.com.
