Finger Lakes Community College and the New York Wine and Culinary Center have partnered to offer four single-session wine education classes to be held in February and March.
Classes vary by topic, duration and price and are held at the New York Wine and Culinary Center, 800 S. Main St. as follows:
Local Pairs-Seasonal Cooking with New York Wineries, Thursday, Feb. 17, 6-8:30 p.m.: The winemaker from Billsboro Winery of Geneva begins the class with a wine tasting. Participants move to the hands-on kitchen and prepare a four-course menu under the guidance of a chef instructor. Then, they enjoy the foods paired with the wines. The cost is $60. Winter Wine & Food Pairing, Saturday, Feb. 26, 5-6 p.m.: Participants get three appetizer-sized servings of local foods and learn how the flavors change when they are paired with three different styles of New York wines. The cost is $25. (Click here for direct link to signup page.)
Seasonal Chef Demo and Wine Pairing Lunch & Learn, Saturday, March 5, 12:30-1:30 p.m.: Participants watch as a wine and culinary center chef creates a recipe from seasonal New York ingredients. Wine & Cheese Pairing, Saturday, March 12, 1-2 p.m.: This class pairs three New York artisan cheeses with three styles of New York wine. Red, white, dry and sweet wines are featured. The cost is $20. (Direct link to signup page.)
