Get into the groove with Funknut, a band that includes three FLCC alumni, Thursday, Feb. 24, at Finger Lakes Community College’s Honors House.
The concert, which is free and open to the public, starts at 7 p.m. at the Honors House, 4340 Lakeshore Drive at the corner with Routes 5 and 20. Parking is available.
Funknut describes itself as “a little bit of funk with a whole lotta soul.” Sean McLay of Almond and Tony Gallicchio ’04 of Hornell, Tristan Greene ’04 of Livonia and Paul McArdle ’04 of Canandaigua formed the band in 2008.
With a goal to “connect with people through melodic funk and improvisation,” Funknut plays at festivals, colleges, and clubs all over the Northeast. The group has opened concerts for The Temptations, The Four Tops, Soulive and Particle, just to name a few.
City Newspaper in Rochester describes the group as “skillful and masterful” while Brian Campbell from Rochesterathome.com says, “Every song swoons, grooves, and jives.” Funknut’s debut CD, “Hit It,” received a positive nod from Jambands.com.
The band is heading back to the studio this year to record its second album. To get a taste of Funknut’s sound, visit www.tinyace.com.
New photography by FLCC student Dan Rounds will be on display in the Honors House Gallery.
