Finger Lakes Chorale seeks voices for 40th anniversary performances

The Finger Lakes Chorale of Finger Lakes Community College is seeking voices for its 40th anniversary performance to be held this spring. Newer members and Chorale alumni are welcome to be part of this commemorative event.

The Tuesday rehearsals will begin on Jan. 25, from 7 to 9 p.m. in Room B355 on the third floor of Finger Lakes Community College, 3325 Marvin Sands Drive, just outside the city of Canandaigua.

The Chorale, led by Dennis Maxfield, will perform Handel’s “Solomon” on April 30 and May 1 at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Canandaigua. An orchestra and organ will accompany the group.

An audition is not required, but prior choral experience is preferred. A $5 non-credit registration fee is payable at the first rehearsal.

Over the past 40 years, hundreds of singers have captivated listeners with Chorale performances featuring a wide repertoire of music such as Broadway musicals, classical oratorios, patriotic anthems and holiday favorites.

The number of Chorale members has ranged from 60 to 135 per concert season with the singers coming from more than two dozen communities in five counties of the Finger Lakes region.
For more information, contact Dennis Maxfield at (585) 396-0027.
