Student, professor to give remarks at FLCC Veterans Day Ceremony

In honor of the students, faculty, staff and community members who have served in the military, Finger Lakes Community College will hold a Veterans Day Ceremony, Thursday, Nov. 11, at 1 p.m.

The observance, which is free and open to the public, will be held in the FLCC gymnasium at the back of the main building, 3325 Marvin Sands Drive. Visitors should leave extra time for parking due to construction on campus and use the lot behind the main building.

Keynote speakers will be Patrick Morrow and James Sconfietti. Morrow, a Canandaigua resident, served with the U.S. Army Military Police in Operation Iraqi Freedom and is the president of the FLCC Veterans Club. Sconfietti, associate professor of criminal justice at FLCC, served in the U.S. Navy.

The event will also include the posting and retiring of the colors by Canandaigua’s American Legion Post 256 Honor Guard, singing of the National Anthem and “God Bless America” by FLCC students and a video tribute to veterans.
